Anyone can call themselves an interpreter or translator; the job title is not protected by law. For this reason, it is important to look for someone who possesses relevant qualifications and is a member of relevant professional associations. My maxim:
- You can expect me to produce high quality results: In addition to earning a graduate degree in Interpreting, I completed a majority of the courses for the Translating degree.
- I am a member of Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer, an association of translators and interpreters that is only open to other colleagues with the relevant studies or appropriate training, and I adhere to the professional and ethical standards of this national association.
- I regularly use translation tools, such as SDL Trados, to ensure consistency with company-specific terminology and to maintain a high level of overall quality.
- I continue to hone my professional knowledge and skills by regularly attending workshops and continuing education courses, among other activities.
